Summary:
CC Balderas is a Public Health Diversity Advisor and Immunization Coordinator at the Larson Institute within the School of Public Health at the University of Nevada, Reno. With years of experience in preventative care, workforce development, behavioral health initiatives, and public health programming, CC is committed to advancing equitable health outcomes through innovative strategies and meaningful collaboration.
In her current role, CC leads Northern Nevada’s efforts to improve immunization rates by collaborating with organizations, stakeholders, and communities to enhance program visibility and accessibility. She has been instrumental in developing and implementing training programs that empower community health professionals and address critical public health challenges. Recent initiatives include workforce development through the ARPA grant, which supports Spanish-language certification for community health workers (CHWs) and the BIPOC Leadership Academy to strengthen emerging public health leaders. Additionally, CC has contributed to projects focused on mental health for Black and LGBTQ youth, influencing legislative policy and conducting program evaluations to enhance public health strategies. These programs focus on tackling health disparities and advancing health equity across Nevada.
Recognized as the American Public Health Association’s Community Health Worker of the Year, CC’s commitment to bridging gaps in public health systems and amplifying the voices of communities of color has earned her national recognition. Her expertise in program planning, community-driven approaches, and relationship building has established her as a trusted leader in public health advocacy and equity-focused initiatives. Deeply passionate about ensuring equitable access to care, opportunities, and resources for historically marginalized groups, CC continues to center visibility, representation, and culturally responsive strategies in her work.
